| Bikes in transition |
OAT reports there was a situation at a race last weekend where one competitor racked 2 bikes in transition.
Major panic ensued when there was a bike left in transition and no swimmers seen in the water.
Lifeguards were sent back out in the lake to search for a drowning victim.
Only 1 bike per competitor is allowed in the transition zone.
Anyone who racks more than 1 bike may be automatically disqualified.

| Long Course Swim |
The long course triathlon swim will be the same course, but will start in two waves this year.
The men will start at 8:00, and the women and relay teams will start shortly after the men.
|
| Short Course Swim |
The short course triathlon swim will be the same course as the last two years: the triangular, off-the-wharf start. We are accommodating
enough time for a brief in-water warmup, so place yourself appropriately in the lineup to enter the water to get more or less time
treading water before the race.

| Race Kit Pickup |
Race kit pickup at Gears and Grinds Bike Shop, 42 Queen St
, Saturday July 31st, 2010
,
3:00 to 6:00 pm and at the transition zone race
morning, from 6:00 to 7:00 am.
There will be a bike check service Saturday at Gears and Grinds,
so bring your bike to get a
it checked. You will get a sticker for your bike which will allow you to bypass the
bike check line into the transition area race morning. Look for the "Express" line going into transition.
Otherwise, you need to queue for bike check
race morning, which can be a delay getting into your transition.
Be sure your
bike can pass these checks.
Please try to come on Saturday, as the lines are always too long on Sunday morning, and the
high numbers of entrants this year will mean you will be rushed to set up your transition.

| OAT rules |
In past years several athletes were disqualified by OAT officials for certain rule infractions, including:
- not wearing helmets while riding.
These rules apply even before the race starts.. Please familiarize yourself with OAT rules
(www.triathlonontario.com).
The OAT rules are in effect for the entire day and anywhere near the event site..
In past, numerous people have been penalized for drafting, even within several hundred meters of the transition zone.
Please ensure you follow drafting rules, and ensure you aren't drafting by mistake.
Ensure you comply with all other OAT rules, before, during and after the
race. We wish all athletes to have a safe and enjoyable race.

| Transition Zone |
When you arrive at the transition zone you will be guided through the following steps:
- If you have not picked up your race kit, do so on Ontario St near the finish line.
- Line up at the entry to the transition zone to complete bike check. (at corner of Ontario and Brock Streets) If you got your bike checked Saturday, enter the express line into transition.
- Once inside transition, proceed to your transition spot and rack your bike. Transition spots are individually
numbered, with lowest numbers closest to Ontario St.
- Go towards the swim start, beside the port-a-potties, and get yourself body-marked.
- Beside body-marking, pick up a timing chip from the Sportstats tent.
- You are ready to race. Long course starts at 8:00 am near the water. Short Course athletes should be ready
near water at 8:40 am. Duathletes should be ready at 8:50 at finish line.

| Water Temperature |
We will be checking the water temperature on race weekend, and determining, in conjunction with OAT,
what the wetsuit policy is. It is very unlikely that we will not allow wetsuits. However, if the water temperature
significantly exceeds 23 degrees, it is a possibility. (not likely this year !)
|
| E-Load |
The transition area and run course will have water and E-Load again this year.
|
| OAT Fees |
You have pre-paid your OAT fees, so no money is due at race kit pickup.
If you are an OAT member, please remember to bring your OAT
card with you, or we may have to charge you a one day fee.
|
| Timing |
We are using the ChampionChip timing system from Sportstats this year.
